Built in 1936, the
exterior facades and the interior gathering space have
been changed very little since its construction.
The structure is a
good example of Art-Deco architecture, typical of the
late 1920’s and 1930’s. The Armory has been the
site of Governors’ Inaugurals, state social and athletic
programs, theatre, artistic and music productions as
well as offices for the State military and police
agencies.
