The home at 507
South Eighth Street is renowned less for its
architectural elements than for its association with the
Lincoln family. In 1853, the house was purchased by
Julia Sprigg, a dear friend of Mary Lincoln. It is
known that Mrs. Sprigg's daughter cared for the
Lincoln's sons. Mrs. Sprigg lived in the home from 1853
to 1869. It is believed that the home was built in 1851
by John B. Weber. This home is now a part of the
Lincoln Home National Historical District.
