SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- Mayor Timothy J. Davlin and the Illinois Green Industry
Association (IGIA) will host their 4th annual Springfield Green
Society Reception to benefit city gateway beautification projects—on Thursday,
Aug. 7, from 6 to 8:30 pm. The event, which coincides with the State Fair’s
parade on opening night, will be held in the IGIA Amphitheatre in Conservation
World on the Illinois State Fairgrounds. Conservation World is located just
inside Gate 7 on the northwest corner of the fairgrounds.
Mayor Davlin will present Springfield Green
awards for outstanding support and participation for the 2007-’08 season.
Vouchers for Mike Mills’ 17th Street Bar & Grill—the only three-time
grand champion from the Memphis in May World Championship—will be provided for
use during any time during the course of the State Fair.
Admission to reception, which is also good for a
one-year membership to Springfield Green, is $50 for individuals and $125 for a
family. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance by e-mail at
green@springfield.il.us. This event is sponsored by Tom and Lori Cullen,
Downtown Springfield, Inc., E & F Distributing, McCann Construction, Qik-n-EZ
and R.W. Troxell & Company.
