City is not testing for new Patrol Officers
at this time.
Requirements to be a Springfield
Police Patrol Officer
U. S. Citizenship
Minimum age at the time of
examination is 21 (or 20 with 60
semester hours in law enforcement
studies). Maximum age at the time
of examination is 34 (unless
previously employed as a Springfield
Police Officer).
High School Diploma or Equivalency
Certificate (GED)
A seven-phase examination process
will be utilized in assessing
applicants. Each phase will be used
as a means of determining an
applicant's suitability for
employment as a Springfield Police
Patrol Officer.
The seven phases of the exam
include:
Written Exam
Oral Assessment
Physical Ability Exam (POWER Test)
Banding Interview with Police Chief
pursuant to Civil Service Rule 4.1
Background Investigation
Psychological Screening
Medical and Drug Exam
Also:
You must not have been
convicted of a felony or certain
misdemeanors, as defined by statute
Residency is NOT
