Mayor Davlin has announced another Auto Amnesty program to help Springfield residents rid their neighborhoods of unusable or unwanted, and often unsightly, automobiles.  Those wishing to have a car removed can call the City’s Division of Motor Vehicle Parking at 789-2211 for instructions. 

     Whether or not the car has a current title of ownership, the City will work with the owner to obtain a vehicle title, so that the car can be legally salvaged.  Local auto salvagers will pay junk car owners $50 per vehicle, as arranged through the Public Works Parking Division. 

     Payment will be made to the owner once the clear title has been secured from the IL Secretary of State and the salvager has collected the vehicle.  This program is scheduled to run from now through July 31, 2006.  Call 789-2211 for details.
