Mayor Tim Davlin today unveiled a new look to Lincoln Library’s website which will make
it easier to access library services and information. As part of that site, he also unveiled several new
services that Springfield residents can access through the website. Click
HERE to see the site.
“We want to make it easy for our residents to utilize the many wonderful services that
Lincoln Library has to offer,” Mayor Davlin said. “This new website is designed to let library
patrons get that information and those services just as if they were in any of the three branches.”
“I am especially excited about a number of new e-services that are now available online such
as meeting room reservations, program reservations and Epay. These services bring an extra value
to those who use Lincoln Library now, and, hopefully, will provide a reason for those unfamiliar
with the library to avail themselves to these services in the future.”
The meeting room and program reservation sections on the website allow residents to
determine when library meetings rooms are available, and to reserve them online. That is a 24/7
service that anyone can use without having to talk to someone at the Main Lincoln Library branch.
Signing up for programs is just as easy.
Epay is a new way to pay for overdue book charges. Just like paying your parking tickets,
this is a 24/7 service that can be used at night or on weekends to settle outstanding accounts by
simply utilizing a credit card for the transaction.
Library patrons will still have many of the other features at their fingertips such as access to
a number of online databases.
There are more than two dozen reference and research databases on
the library's Web site that offer card-holders remote access to a wealth of information. Card-holders
can log onto most of it from any computer inside or outside the library, free of charge.
"Springfield taxpayers don't have to pay for this. They already own it and don't have to pay
anything more," Davlin added. "It's just a matter of knowing it's available. The library doesn't have
walls anymore. You don't have to leave your home computer.
The Internet just allows us to extend
the number of resources we have in a more convenient way."
