About Us
Throughout the country,
business leaders, governments and the
public are all recognizing the
implications that global warming could
have on the environmental and economic
health of our communities.
In 2008 Mayor Davlin
signed on to the U.S. Conference of
Mayors’ Climate Protection Agreement.
Under the agreement, supporting mayors
have pledged to work to cut greenhouse
gas emissions in their cities to seven
percent below 1990 levels by 2012.
Springfield is one of over 1000 cities
across the country that has joined the
mayors’ climate protection efforts.
The Springfield Cool
Cities Advisory Council (SCCAC) was
established by the Mayor to study and
develop a plan detailing how the city
can reach the climate protection goal,
while becoming more energy efficient,
more energy independent and spurring
economic growth. In developing the
plan, the SCCAC will consider local
actions to mitigate climate change in
various sectors, seek input from the
community and develop specific
recommendations for reducing greenhouse
gas emissions to move our community
toward a more sustainable future.

Members
The SCCAC is comprised of
nine members representing a broad range
of community stakeholders, including
business, government, engineering, real
estate and environmental interests.
Membership is voluntary and members do
not receive any compensation for their
services.
