Davlin honored Springfield Green supporters at the
Illinois Green Industry Association’s (IGIA) 3rd
annual “Garden Bistro BBQ”—a fundraiser for gateway
beautification projects. The presentation took place
in the IGIA Amphitheatre in Conservation World on
the Illinois State Fairgrounds Thursday night,
August 9, 2007.
“Springfield
Green’s success is a direct result of the generosity
of our community’s supporters,” said Mayor Davlin.
“As an initiative that continues to grow, I couldn’t
be happier to see that we’re able to put their
donated dollars to work and beautify our community,
improving the appearance of our major gateways and
corridors and inspiring others to follow suit with
our landscaping examples.”

Springfield Green’s most notable projects, all
funded with private donations, grants and corporate
partnerships include, downtown planters, the Wabash
Avenue and South Grand Avenue gateway plantings,

pick up program.
The Illinois Green
Industry Association is a nonprofit association,
which has been providing representation and
professional and business development opportunities
to members and businesses of Illinois'
nursery and landscape industry since 1925.
Springfield Green, a City- and community-driven
program, was established by Mayor Davlin in 2004 to
beautify Springfield with plants, flowers and trees,
as well as litter pick-up programs, in public ground
projects at city gateways, corridors and downtown. |
