Mayor Timothy J. Davlin has presented awards in the city’s fifth annual, local beautification contest, Springfield In Bloom. This neighborhood improvement initiative spearheaded by Illinois Times and Springfield Green called on residents, neighborhood groups and businesses to nominate both new and existing landscaping projects that they feel were making the biggest impacts on street-side beautification.  Click HERE for more.

Mayor Timothy J. Davlin and the Illinois Green Industry Association (IGIA) will host their 4th annual Springfield Green Society Reception to benefit city gateway beautification projects—on Thursday, Aug. 7, from 6 to 8:30 pm.  Click HERE for more.

Mayor Tim Davlin presented awards to seven Adopt-a-Street groups for their litter pick-up efforts at a volunteer appreciation party on Monday night. In 2007, more than 1,000 volunteers participated in the street-cleaning program, collecting over 1,100 bags of trash from Springfield city streets.  Click HERE for the full release.

The Garden Clubs of Illinois, Inc., presented Springfield Green with its Roadside Beautification Award for its landscaping and tree planting on state routes at its 2007 annual meeting.
