A public hearing for City of Springfield Transition Plan is scheduled for Thursday, October
20, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council chambers, on the third floor of Municipal Center West, 7th
and Monroe.
The Transition Plan outlines how the City of Springfield is implementing the American
Disabilities Act (ADA). While the Transition Plan is updated continuously, a public hearing is held
annually to gather feedback and suggestions on the progress of the plan and to assist in the
identification and implementation of needed accommodations moving forward.
The Transition Plan is available on the City of Springfield website at
http://www.springfield.il.us/Commissions/DisabilityComm/TransitionPlan.htm . Copies are also
available in hard copy, large print, Braille and audio. For a copy of the Transition Plan or to submit
written comment, contact the Office of Community Relations, 231 South 6th Street, 3rd Floor,
Springfield, IL 62701.
Public comment can be made in person or in a written format at the public hearing.
Even though the public hearing marks the end of the public comment period, suggestions
and feedback are welcome at any time. The public is invited and encouraged to attend the open
meetings of the Springfield Disabilities Commission. Commission information is available on the
Internet at
http://www.springfield.il.us/Commissions/DisabilityComm/index.htm .
