The City of Springfield will hold the second in a series of cyber security tabletop exercises
on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at the Dove Conference Center. This exercise is part of a program
provided by the Center for Infrastructure Assurance and Security (CIAS) for Illinois. The goal of
the exercise is to raise awareness and encourage discussion of cyber and infrastructure security
issues and how they affect different sectors of the community. Leaders from critical sectors will
learn from each other during the exercise as they discuss and share information.
Funding for this program is provided by the Department of Homeland Security to the CIAS
for the purpose of delivering community cyber security exercises and continuing development of
Community Cyber Security Maturity Model to help communities strengthen their cyber security
posture.
The CIAS is a non-profit security center attached to the University of Texas at San Antonio.
For the past seven years, the CIAS has been conducting community cyber security training and
awareness exercises and events across the nation. The CIAS offers a comprehensive training and
education program to enhance a community’s awareness, understanding and ability to protect its
critical infrastructures and services.
