The 19th annual all-ages, family friendly Earth Awareness Fair which features as many as
30 exhibitors providing valuable environmental information will be held Saturday, May 7 from
10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Erin’s Pavilion in Southwind Park. The public will be able to learn about
recycling, energy efficiency, native plants/ habitat, local and organic foods and water conservation.
Giveaways, fun games and crafts will be offered--all with an environmental message. Erin’s
Pavilion is Springfield’s only Platinum LEED-certified building.
The Springfield Mass Transit District is offering free rides on the Southwind Park Route all
day. Buses leave the downtown transfer center bus stop A at 5th and Capitol every hour from 10:15
to 5:15 to go to Southwind Park. The buses will leave Erin's Pavilion every hour from 10:45 to

“Refrigerators on Parade,” refrigerators decorated with an environmental message, will be
on display as entries in a contest sponsored by
the CWLP Energy Services Office. Winners will be
announced at 1:00 p.m.
Live music will be provided by popular local musicians Tom Irwin and the Fake McCoys
and others. Refreshments and other concessions including vegetarian options will be available for
purchase from Secret Recipes.
Admission to the Earth Awareness Fair is free. In the event of rain, the fair will be moved
indoors. This 19th Annual Earth Awareness Fair is being held to help celebrate the 41st anniversary
of Earth Day.
