ELECTION RESULTS TO AGAIN BE AVAILABLE ON MUNICIPAL CHANNEL 18

Springfield residents will again be able to get the latest election results quickly on election night, April 5, 2011, by watching Municipal Channel 18, the city’s government access channel. Through an arrangement with County Clerk Joe Aiello’s office, the totals from the Sangamon County races will begin to be available on channel 18.

Computer analysts for Sangamon County have designed a system that captures individual precinct tabulations and adds them to existing subtotals in calculate the latest cumulative totals. Those figures will be available for individual races on Municipal Channel 18.

Residents who would like specific breakdowns by precinct should access the County Clerk’s election night website at http://www.co.sangamon.il.us/election/results/. There they will find a complete listing of the votes as they come in, and the final breakdown once all tabulation has been completed.

Municipal Channel 18 is available to subscribers of Comcast Cable service in the city of Springfield. The programming is also being streamed 24/7 and is available to everyone on the city’s website at http://www.springfield.il.us/MuniChannel_Stream.htm. It can also be viewed on the A T & T U-verse system at channel 99 access.
