Mayor J. Michael Houston, Robert L. Williams, Jr., Chief of Police, and Officer Don Edwards, President - Police Benevolent & Protective Association, Unit #5, presented awards to citizens and officers during the annual awards ceremony held in the City Council Chambers. Abraham Lincoln Award to Officer Barbara Wood

The Abraham Lincoln Award is awarded to recognize the sworn personnel who through initiative, creates or participates in a program or system that significantly improves the quality of life in the community and exceeds the normal expectations of job performance.

         Silver Suarez Award to Officer James Wangard

The Silver Suarez Award recognizes the uniform officer or officers on active duty, performing the most distinguished act or acts of police work during the preceding year.

William Herndon Award to Detective Shane Overby, Detective James Stapleton, Detective Donald Larson, Detective Jennifer Langan, Detective Dane Cookson

The William Herndon Award recognizes the plain-clothes police officer or officers while on active duty that perform the most distinguished act or acts of police work during the preceding year.
