The Springfield Police Department is reminding everyone that this weekend starts the St. Patrick’s Day festivities. Please don’t rely on the luck o’ the Irish when it comes to driving drunk. If your celebration includes alcohol - make sure you have a designated driver. The Springfield Police Department will even provide one for you at no cost!

Several local cab companies are working in conjunction with the Springfield Police to insure that you arrive home safe after a night on the town. Just ask your local bartender to call participating cab companies to arrange for your free ride. The hours of eligibility are March 12^th at 5:00 p.m. thru March 13^th at 5:00 a.m.

Police will be out in numbers enforcing the DUI laws of this state. Springfield Police will be adding additional DUI patrols and checkpoints to keep this weekend safe. Our goal is to have everyone that will be drinking find an alternative way home.
