MARTIN LUTHER KING DRIVE TO CLOSE FOR WATER SERVICE INSTALLS - 11/26/23 - Beginning Wednesday, November 29, S. Martin Luther King Drive between Pine and Cedar Streets will close temporarily for City Water, Light and Power crews to install new water service lines to two new homes in the 1500 block. This closure will restrict all thru traffic during the work and until road surface repairs are complete. The work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled for the next dry weather day in the event of rain

Motorists should plan to take alternative routes to avoid delays and should slow down and be aware of construction and repair crews and equipment in and near roadways.

OLD JACKSONVILLE ROAD TO REDUCE FOR POLE REPLACEMENT - 11/28/23 - On Wednesday, November 29, one west-bound lane of traffic on Old Jacksonville Road will be closed between Wakefield Drive to S. Koke Mill Rd. for pole replacement work. This closure is expected to be in place until that evening.

Motorists should plan an alternative route and use caution when driving near the work area.

ROAD CLOSURES: Shale Street between Ash and Clark will be closed for road construction from 7:00 a.m. Monday, November 27 through 5:00 p.m. Friday, December 1. Access to properties will be from the north. Shale Street will be open over the holiday weekend (Wednesday evening-Monday morning).

ONGOING CLOSURES:

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF MADISON & JEFFERSON STREETS
Madison and Jefferson are closed between 9th and 11th Street to construct new underpasses at these locations. The closure will last until June 2024.

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF WASHINGTON STREET
Washington Street is closed between 9th and 11th Street for construction till late Autumn 2023. Detours will be posted on 9th and 11th.

STANFORD AVENUE CLOSURE
Stanford Avenue, between 11th Street and Fox Bridge Road, closed for major work, including constructing the new road with curb and gutter, storm sewer, sidewalks on the south side, and multi-use trail on the north side-anticipated completion by summer 2024.
