Branch Pickup


    City-Wide Branch Collection

The City of Springfield's residential spring branch pick up begins Monday, May 4. The spring pickup schedule is PRE-SET and crews will work in specified areas of the city each week. Below is the entire spring branch pick up schedule that will last four weeks:

  • Northwest Quadrant – Branches set out by 7:00 a.m. the morning of May 4 - COMPLETED  
    • area north of South Grand Avenue and Old Jacksonville Road. West of Walnut Street/J David Jones Parkway
  • Southwest Quadrant – Branches set out by 7:00 a.m. the morning of May 11 - COMPLETED
    • area south of South Grand Avenue and Old Jacksonville Road. West of Walnut Street.
  • Southeast Quadrant – Branches set out by 7:00 a.m. the morning of May 18
    • area south of South Grand Avenue and east of Walnut Street, including the properties around Lake Springfield.
  • Northeast Quadrant – Branches set out by 7:00 a.m. the morning of May 25
    • area north of South Grand Avenue and east of Walnut/J. David Jones Parkway

    Resident Instructions

The City of Springfield will pick up branch piles from residents:

  • No larger than 3 foot in height, 4 foot in depth, and 10 feet in length;
  • Piles larger than a small pickup load will not be picked up by the city;
  • The program is for branches only, no logs will be accepted;
  • The program is for branches only, no logs will be accepted;
  • Branches/limbs trimmed by a commercial contractor will not be picked up;
  • Branches must be placed on the curb not obstructing the street or sidewalk;

Small branches may be broken up and put into yard waste bags; and

Branches are not allowed on boulevards.

    Residential Branch Drop Off

Residents may drop off branches to Evans Recycling with proof of residency until the end of March 2021. This service is for City residents only and not for commercial contractors. Evans Recycling is located at 2100 J. David Jones Parkway and is open Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Saturday, 7:00 a.m. – 12-noon. Evans Recycling’s contact number is 217.391.0886.

    Branch Piles Are NOT Considered Yard Waste

As a reminder, the city's branch pickup is a DIFFERENT program from the city’s bi-weekly yard waste pick up program that is now until the end of March 2021. The branch pickup program only occurs twice a year.
