Branch Pickup

    Regular Citywide Branch Collection

Springfield’s spring residential branch pick up will begin in the NORTHWEST quadrant of the city on Monday, April 8. The spring curbside branch pick up will be set for two (2) pick ups for each area and follow a pre-set schedule over eight (8) weeks.

The city will be divided into four (4) directional quadrants that the collection schedule will follow. These areas are listed below. Crews will be in each quadrant TWICE and branches must be placed curbside by 6:00 a.m. the Monday of the assigned pickup weeks to ensure branch pickup and disposal by city crews.

As a reminder, smaller branches may be broken up and placed in yard waste bags for curbside pickup. Residents may also drop off their branches year-round for FREE to Evans Recycling with proof of residency. This service is not for commercial contractors but for city residents only. Evans Recycling is located at 2100 J. David Jones Parkway and is open Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Saturday 7:00 .am. – 12-noon. The contact number is 217.391.0886.

    2019 Spring Branch Pickup Schedule

Week of April 8th and May 6th
  • Northwest Quadrant – area north of South Grand Avenue and Old Jacksonville Road. West of Walnut Street/J David Jones Parkway.
Week of April 15th and May 13th
  • Southwest Quadrant – area south of South Grand Avenue and Old Jacksonville Road. West of Walnut Street.
Week of April 22nd and May 20th
  • Southeast Quadrant– area south of South Grand Avenue and east of Walnut Street, including the properties around Lake Springfield.
Week of April 29th and May 27th
  • Northeast Quadrant – area north of South Grand Avenue and east of Walnut/J. David Jones Parkway.

    Size of Branch Piles

The City of Springfield will pick up branch piles from residents:

  • No larger than 3 foot in height, 4 foot in depth, and 10 feet in length;
  • Piles larger than a small pick up load will not be picked up by the city;
  • The program is for branches only, no logs will be accepted
  • Branches/limbs trimmed by a commercial contractor will not be picked up; and
  • Branches must be placed on the curb not obstructing the street or sidewalk.
  • Small branches may be broken up and put into yard waste bags for pickup by your waste hauler.
